But amid the charge and counter charge over airline emissions, there doesn’t seem to be any clarity over how much CO2 the airlines actually produce. O’Leary seeming to claim simultaneously that he doesn’t care about the environment and that his airline is the greenest in Europe.
Why doesn’t the government make it clear that it expects all companies to produce annual carbon accounts? It should be able to swing this under the new Companies Act. For the aviation industry at least, this is without doubt a business critical issue.
